Police Quest 1

For the original (AGI) Police Quest. This update is a Sarien replacement for the original Sierra AGI interpreter. It has an embedded icon for Police Quest. Just unzip to the game's folder. Shortcuts to the new executable can then be created on the desktop or Start Menu to start the game.

Police Quest 1 Patch (PQ1VGA) [22.7 KB]

For the remake (VGA) of Police Quest from the CD Collection Version ONLY. This patch fixes the Lockup that occurs leaving Bert's Park after you have arrested the kid (Victor Simms) for possession of narcotics. This problem is a system-speed related issue, and generally only happens on newer systems.

Police Quest 1 SCI - Caffeine Carol's Patch (PQ1SCI) [4.9 KB]

For the remake (VGA) of Police Quest. This patch will fix the problem you may encounter if you arrive outside of Caffeine Carol's and click the Eye cursor on anything before getting Sonny out of his car.

NOTE: It is imperative that you restore to a point BEFORE you arrived at Carol's! If you restore directly to outside the diner, the patch files will not be read by the game and the error will return.

Police Quest II Patch (PQ2_NRS) [4.39 KB]

This non-Sierra update is one of NewRisingSun's script level timer bugs patches. Note: This fix is ONLY for Version 1.002.011. The earlier version, 1.001.000, does NOT need fixing. Do not use this fix with any version other than 1.002.011! To find out which version you have, select "About PQ2" from the Sierra menu. Fixes:

Police Quest III Patch (PQ3PENT) [4.94 KB]

This patch is to fix the pentagram problem found on PQ3 if using a keyboard. See the Readme file for more information.

Police Quest III SoundBlaster Patch (486SBDRV) [8 KB]

For Diskette versions of older games. Corrects "error 29, unable to initialize audio hardware". Updated driver works with faster systems using the SoundBlaster 16.

Police Quest III Updated Sound Drivers (E29PATCH) [8 KB]

This file contains two drivers that have been designed for compatibility with 486 systems, MTBLAST.DRV and SNDBLAST.DRV

Police Quest 4

Police Quest IV Handcuff Patch B (PQ4CUF) [20.7 KB]

On a few slower computer systems, it is extremely difficult or impossible to arrest Walker in City Hall. This patch will give you more time to put the handcuffs on the suspect.

Police Quest IV 1.0c Update (PQ4PAT) [370 KB]

For floppy Version. Updates your copy of Police Quest to version 1.0c from versions
1.0, 1.0a or 1.0b. Fixes:

Lockups in the shoot-out scene.

Problems with Emo if the game was saved at a certain point in the shoot-out scene.

Not being able to scroll through cursor icons at one point.

All cursors acting like the talk cursor at one point.

Not getting the full amount of points when using the 90 degree mirror.

Lockups after certain DAC sounds played.

Police Quest IV Gravis UltraSound Drivers (GUS32) [273 KB]

These Gravis Ultrasound Drivers will work with some Sierra 32 bit games. These drivers will not work on earlier Sierra games.

Police Quest Collection: The Four Most Wanted (1995)

Police Quest Collection: The Four Most Wanted (1995) Install (PQ4Install) [77.1 KB]

This zip archive contains the missing install files to be able to setup the audio hardware for maunual install of the DOS version of PQ4 that ships with the 4 Most Wanted Collection.

Police Quest Collection (2006)

Police Quest Collection (2006) DOSBox 0.70 Update (PQCollectionDB70) [394 KB]

This patch will allow the use of the greatly improved DOSBox 0.70 over the version 0.63 that shipped with the Collection. Also includes the NewRisingSun patches for PQ1VGA, PQ2 and PQ3. The patch also restores the missing install files to configure the games' settings. After running the update, you will find new shortcuts in the "Sierra\Police Quest Collection" folder in the Start Menu. The launcher will no longer be needed.

NOTE: You must install DOSBox 0.70 in its default location (C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.70) and the games must, also, be installed in their default location (C:\Program Files\Sierra\Police Quest Collection(TM)) before running this updater.
